Position Overview
We are on the lookout for a skilled Transcription Consultant to join our remote workforce from anywhere in the U.S. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in the advancement of our new Direct Student Assessment tools by transcribing audio recordings of students’ interactions in both English and Spanish as they navigate our Literacy Screener. Your contributions will play a key role in refining our automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology. This position is available for immediate start and requires a commitment of 20-40 hours per week through December, with the possibility of additional transcription assignments in the spring.
Key Responsibilities
- Segment and transcribe English and Spanish audio recordings of students, including instances of code-switching, at both the word and phoneme level for specific tasks.
- Execute necessary corrections to ensure transcriptions accurately reflect the audio recordings.
Required Skills
- Fluency in both English and Spanish.
- Strong proficiency in distinguishing between various letter sounds, particularly vowel sounds.
- High attention to detail.
- Capability to produce results independently while also collaborating effectively within a cross-functional team.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; experience in data entry is a plus.
- Experience in early childhood education or educational measurement is beneficial but not mandatory.
