POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Analyst performs highly responsible computer software, network, and hardware tasks. Incumbent must have the ability to work in a problem-solving and program-development environment. Will be responsible for generating customized applications and reports, integrations, and database programming. Must have experience in the field of systems engineering, database administration and/or analysis, operating systems, network analysis and/or management or a similar field in a multi-platform information systems environment. May require independent judgment in the disposition of routine matters without direct supervision. Will work under the direct supervision of the IT Manager.
REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Provides support for the department. In addition to other duties as assigned, will determine requirements, design, build, test, implement, maintain, and enhance business systems. Will be responsible for making computer applications that are functional and operational for all the users. Will be responsible for defining and developing computer systems suitable for the company’s work flow and production.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Note: Additional relevant full-time experience for classes may substitute for the Bachelor’s Degree on a year-for-year basis. For example, two years of qualifying work experience and an Associate of Arts Degree in Computer Science and the five years of experience already required or completion of a certificate program in Computer Science in the option tested. The certificate must be an approved computer science certification. The objective of the minimum qualification is to determine training and experience that enables an incumbent to perform the full range of technical analytical duties in the requested class and level with only minimal orientation to the specific job assignment. This experience must demonstrate the stated knowledge and abilities needed. Knowledge of software systems development life cycle; principles of computer data processing; business system applications; principles and techniques of software and systems quality assurance and control; principles and practices of technical problem solving; team dynamics; principles, practices and techniques of providing customer service; design, installation and maintenance of enterprise, distributed, client/server and desktop computer systems; computer operations and facilities; principles and practices of producing effective project and technical documentation; programming languages; restart and recovery concepts. Database Option: Database management systems (DBMS); database design; database CASE tools; related data/file management tools; database utilities; file and data recovery; database security methods and techniques; physical control standards and procedures. Networking Option: Logical, physical, and virtual network design; LAN/WAN network hardware and software vendors and products; data communication concepts and principles; Internet and Intranet architecture; network security policies, techniques, and procedures; network documentation, configuration, maintenance and diagnostic procedures and techniques. Programming Option: Must understand program design and analysis; principles and techniques of programming; programming languages and utilities; test plan, test case and test bed development and use. Systems Analyst Option: Analyze and/or resolve hardware, software, and application problems; fundamentals and concepts of enterprise, distributed , client/server and desktop computer systems; definition of technical specifications from user and business requirements; computer systems configuration; project planning coordination; service level agreements; test plan, test case and test bed development and use; practices of effective communication of technical issues to user and client community; user acceptance testing.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
