Janitor
Job Summary:
The Janitor will assist in maintaining indoor and outdoor facility cleanliness by improving curb appeal, completing minor repairs, and completing necessary Porter responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall cleaning and appearance of the building inside & outside.
- Cleans offices, restrooms, laundry rooms, parking lot and public access areas and all meeting rooms as directed. This includes but is not limited to sweeping, mopping, shampooing, dusting, vacuuming and trash removal.
- Cleans Facilities shop rooms & storage rooms completely.
- Keeps main entrance and public access areas clean and maintains them.
- Ensure all areas are free of debris.
- Inspects property, cleans, picks up trash and debris, and reports any safety hazards or repair needs to Facilities Supervisor.
- Sweeps walkways, entryways, and hallways. Wash down parking lot sidewalks and other cement areas.
- Ensures external light fixtures are in working order. Cleans lights and globes in common area.
- Ensure all areas are cleaned as directed in a timely manner in accordance with company policy.
- Cleans trash dumpsters and surrounding areas.
- Assists with removal of furniture, appliances, and debris from areas to dumpster or storage.
- Visually inspects building inside & outside and reports any damage to Facilities Supervisor.
- Wipes down walls and signage.
- Cleans and mops when needed.
- Coordinates with Facilities Supervisor to maintain inventory of supplies required to perform job.
- Maintains the Facilities storage room in a neat and organized fashion.
- Reports any Facilities concerns or repairs in meeting rooms and/or common areas to the Facilities Supervisor.
- Provides assistance to Facilities staff and other staff members as needed.
- Maintains open communication with Facilities Supervisor.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience as a janitor preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Heavy work: Required to be able to Lift 50 pounds constantly and up to 100 pounds via team lift
- Standing: To remain on one’s feet in an upright position without moving about.
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
- Stooping: Bending the body forward and down while bending the spine at the waist 45 degrees or more either over something below waist level or down towards an object on or near the ground.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discriminations in sound.
- The worker is required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level.
