Position Summary:
This is an entry to mid-level position that works directly with the Estimation team and Project Management team to determine the estimated costs of commercial construction projects of various sizes. By creating a thorough and intelligent estimate, the Estimator ensures successful attainment and profitability of projects. Your main responsibilities include developing estimates by researching costs and materials, creating project schedules, and interacting with subcontractors/suppliers.
Work Functions & Responsibilities:
As a team, identify if a project is viable and appropriate to bid.-
Review of plans, specifications, and bid documentation in preparation of a bid.

Identify key days to ensure timely delivery of all required bid materials.

Complete the Estimate Check List for each project assigned.

Create subcontractor/bidder list for each project assigned.

Attend pre-bid meetings with Owner/Architect/Purchasing Agent, as needed.

Contact subcontractors during bidding process for status, guidance, and competitive quotes.

Utilize bidding software to create bid packages, invite subcontractors, upload quotes, send follow-up correspondence, etc.

Create RFI’s (request for information) during bidding process to ensure an accurate bid.

Gather all subcontractor quotes and review for accuracy. Determine which quote fits the project requirements/budget best.

Perform labor and material take-off for self-performed work and to verify received subcontractor quotes.

When necessary, put together a preliminary project schedule.

Using all provided and gathered materials, put together an estimate package to be reviewed with the team before bid is submitted.

On-time delivery of completed bids to customer.

Organization of bid paperwork, including proper storage of documents in appropriate file.

Assist with subcontractor/supplier buyout for successful bids.

Assist project managers with project startup after successful bid to ensure smooth transition of responsibility and understanding.

Coordination of Bonding when applicable.

Preparation of Active Job Number Listing.

Research new bidding opportunities from a variety of sources.

Have a general understanding of the different types of construction contracts.

Maintain/create customer, subcontractor, and supplier relationships.

All other duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications

Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of software including Microsoft Office.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Associate Degree in Construction Management or related field.

Must have a valid driver's License
Preferred Qualifications

1-5 years of Construction Field Experience.

Bachelor’s Degree Construction Management or related field.
Physical Requirements:
-
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.

Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Continuously operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, printer and telephone.

Semi-frequent stair climbing.

Frequent trips to pre-bids and site visits in various locations
