Business Reporting Analyst

    DEPARTMENT PURPOSE: The Information Services department serves the OSU Foundation and its partners by providing administrative, development, and strategic oversight of the organization’s fundraising and accounting applications and databases (ascend and FE NXT), digital engagement infrastructure, reporting solutions, and data management systems. It involves aligning fundraising objectives with user accessibility to information required for immediate and long-tern business success. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including software developers, data analysts, and foundation and university stakeholders is critical.

    PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Business Reporting Analyst is responsible for providing daily operational support to business users via the KACE ticketing system. This position may also provide key data insights for the OSU Foundation and its OSU system partners through applications such as Tableau, MS Visual Studio, SSRS, Salesforce, and other analytical software tools.


    KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:

    Primary Responsibility #1

    • Interpret and transform information to provide data visualizations and reporting solutions for delivery in support of business strategies and/or fundraising initiatives.


    Primary Responsibility #2

    • Provide support to the Business Intelligence Developer as it pertains to the Annual Giving Department direct marketing needs, Event Management Team communications and systems tracking, list requests, and the OSUF mass communication process.


    Primary Responsibility #3

    • Learn the OSUF business model and best practices for data analysis and mass communication practices using SQL. Snowflake, Tableau, ascend, Salesforce, and Marketing Cloud Email platforms to provide daily operational support for business users and campus partners.


    Primary Responsibility #4

    • Collaborate with Application Administration and Development and Data Intelligence and Analytics teams to align report development with business needs and ensure conformance with OSUF Information Strategy standards and OSU needs.


    Primary Responsibility #5

    • Maintain documentation, including technical specifications, data mapping, program logic, flowcharts, and user level documentation for training and troubleshooting purposes.

    JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:

    Education & Certifications-

    • An undergraduate degree in a computational field (accounting, Finance, MSIS, etc.) or related discipline is preferred; or the combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position.


    Desired Experience-

    • Strong Data Visualization Experience with Tableau.
    • Experience with Report Development using SQL Reporting Services (SSRS)
    • Strong analytical and visualization skills to assess problems and determine creative solutions.
    • Statistical knowledge around data modeling, cluster analysis, A/B Testing, linear/logistic regression.
    • Proficiency in SQL, writing queries, and troubleshooting query performance.
    • Experience with Salesforce Customer Relationship Management Software
    • Strong experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • Knowledge and experience with ETL, Cloud Warehousing, and AI preferred.
    • Ability to learn OSUF applications including Financial Edge NXT, Marketing Cloud, GitHub etc.
    • Eye for consistency and maintaining an established report brand.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines is a must.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and proven sense of humor with the ability to have fun.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must use a computer terminal and view a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must talk in person or by phone (frequently and sometimes for extended periods) to internal staff. Must constantly use visual acuity to check printed and designed materials of various types. Must be able to navigate within the OSU Foundation. Typical office working conditions.
