Description

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:

To manage the activities of a clinical laboratory and ensure its smooth operation and efficient functioning. This position also requires independent action to establish own short term plans within the scope of the organization policy and common goals, referring to senior management on matters requiring clarification, interpretation, or exception to policy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Manage staff to ensure the laboratory is running effectively: assign and distribute work, determine priorities, schedule non-routine procedures, manage personnel related functions (hiring, firing, disciplining, training, performance evaluations, competency reviews, etc.).
• Maintain, update, and inform of any policy and procedure changes.
• Review and oversee all satellite clinics lab instrument and environment maintenance, testing, resulting, quality control, and personnel training.
• Write department reports; assist in budget planning and cost analysis.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

• Bachelor of science
• ASCO/AMT or equivalent
• 5 years as a Medical Technologist
• Laboratory manager/supervisor experience
