Additionally, Laboratory Manager orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Laboratory Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Laboratory Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. The Louisiana State University in Shreveport is seeking a Laboratory Technician (a 12-month position) to oversee operations for the LSUS College of Arts and Sciences departments of Chemistry/Physics and Biological Sciences. The selected candidate would assist in managing the stockrooms by receiving, stocking incoming supplies, and ordering resources as directed. In addition, the technician will assist faculty with weekly preparations or restocking supplies for the teaching laboratories. The technician will also operate and coordinate the maintenance and repair of moderately complex laboratory equipment; check for malfunctions and may perform minor repairs. May provide training on the use of equipment and assist faculty in building specialized equipment for research. May provide direction to student workers.
