Lactation Consultant jobs in Mount Pleasant, SC
Lactation Consultant provides lactation support and education to patients and families. May plan and lead breastfeeding classes for expecting mothers. Being a Lactation Consultant is responsible for identifying and correcting lactation problems, and advising physicians and healthcare providers on lactation problems experienced by patients. Requires an associate degree in nursing or equivalent. Additionally, Lactation Consultant requires Registered Nurse (RN) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Assesses patient’s needs, diagnoses lactation problems, plans and implements intervention, and evaluates outcomes.Responsibilities
Conducts prenatal breastfeeding classes and evaluates educational outcomes.
Provides outpatient care, consultation and home visits for families experiencing breastfeeding difficulties.

Education
Required: Graduate from an academic program in human lactation and breastfeeding that includes both the didactic and clinical instruction.Experience
Required: Experience working with Mother Baby couplets in low and high risk situations.Certifications
Required: Must be certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). CPR.Tenet Healthcare complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
