The Laundry Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of Housekeeping and Housekeeling Manager in overseeing day-to-day laundry operations and laundry attendants. This role will actively participate, and execute, all stages of laundry operations to ensure a constant supply of clean linens are available for the hotel; including collection, transporting, sorting, loading and unloading of washers and dryers, ironing, folding, storing, and delivering. The person in this role will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining laundry machinery and laundry area. 

This position is full-time, 5 days a week. Shifts may vary and fluctuate with business needs. Weekend availability is required. Our ideal candidate will need to show strong leadership and communication skills; and be comfortable with making inependent decisions that are in favor of the business. Hotel experience and knowledge of laundry operations and linenen inventorying is highly preferred. Supervisors at The Westin Portland Harborview are eligible for cell phone and parking reimbursement.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Typically requires a high school diploma and 2 or more years of experience in a hotel, specifically laundry operations, is preferred. 
• Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
• Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
• Must work well in stressful high pressure situations.
• Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must have open availability. Be able to work as business levels dictate. Morning/mid shifts/evening.

• Recording/logging discard linen
• Laundry product tracking
• Fold linens/towels and stock linen carts, as required
• Work in laundry chute as needed
• Inventory supplies
• Report malfunctions with equipment
• Process stained linen according to reclaim procedures
• Maintain staffing levels based on flow of laundry room
• Motivate and maintain high level of productivity with staff
• Evaluates operations to ensure clean laundry practices are being followed and the environment meets sanitary government regulations.
• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly service-oriented manner.
• Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Aimbridge Hospitality standards as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards).
• Comply at all times with Aimbridge Hospitality standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Employees must at all times be friendly helpful and courteous to guests managers and fellow employees.
• Understand operation of washing machines and dryers.
• Wash and dry all dirty linens towels rags etc. as directed by management.
• Clean dryer filter daily and maintain all equipment as trained.
• Operate iron as per standard and ensure that it is shut off at the end of day.
• Always practice safe work habits to ensure safety to guests and fellow employees.
• Sweep and mop laundry floors storing all linens off the floor.
• Be familiar with all Aimbridge Hospitality's policies and house rules.
• Remove and sort dirty linens and towels from laundry carts.
• Keep laundry carts clean and free of debris.
• Maintain clean work area.
• Attend meetings as required by management.
• Perform any other duties as requested by management.
