Lean Manufacturing Specialist assists with the implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization. Evaluates all continuous improvement activities and implements plans to optimize performance and processes. Being a Lean Manufacturing Specialist employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Lean Manufacturing Specialist also requires training and Lean certification through an accredited organization. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Lean Manufacturing Specialist typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. YOUR ROLE
- The Lean Engineer is responsible for continuous improvement activities throughout the plant.
- Executes improvement projects and drives results.
- Identifies and drives improvement to plant standards, such as visual management, standard work instructions, technical work instructions, centerlines, set up sheets machine parameter settings, etc.
- Collaborates cross functionally to implement identified improvements.
- Interfaces with global leaders to report out on local production system roadmaps, performance data, and best operating practices.
- Analyzes business processes and performs line studies to identify opportunities and drive improvements. Identifies losses in efficiency for value streams and equipment and aids in implementing solutions to improve.
- Collaborates to develop short- and long-term strategies to reduce waste.
- Drives kaizen and other projects focused on improving plant efficiency, machine reliability, sustainability, and the reduction of waste.
