Being a Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. employs Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. also requires training and Lean certification through an accredited organization. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. To be a Lean Manufacturing Specialist, Sr. typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     GENERAL PURPOSE

    Facilitate the investigation, disposition and corrective action activities for major customer affecting quality issues. Provide support and leadership for cross-functional problem-solving activities. Train and mentor quality and manufacturing personnel on quality processes and tools. Oversee the daily operations and personnel of the customer returns / repair department.

    DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Develop and execute plans covering a broad spectrum of activities including: Product Failure Analysis with Root Cause Corrective Action, DFMEA, PFMEA and Statistical Process Control including Rolled Throughput Yield Reporting and Evaluation, Nonconforming Material Control Process (MRB), Quality Records Retention and Quality Systems Training.
    • Analyze Customer complaints and lead the team to find root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
    • Oversee the customer returns area. Analyze data and defective product to create corrective actions to improve product quality. Ensure defective product is safely disassembled and disposed of in accordance of company policy.
    • Maintain the necessary documentation for corrective and preventive action, receiving inspection, and product audit activities including process flow charts, procedures, work instructions, forms, records, and training as appropriate.
    • Responsible to maintain the Documentation for the Quality System.
    • Lead internal audits for ISO 9001
    • Provide reports and analysis to management regarding the quality of product; Facilitate customer feedback meetings.
    • Participate in the reviewing of new product designs and manufacturing processes from a quality perspective.
    • Assist in customer quality certifications (ISO, TS, etc); report to management on quality issues, trends and losses; participate in internal and external quality audits
    • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality assurance and implement effective and appropriate corrective actions.
    • Facilitate Corrective Action Teams including error-proofing development to reduce scrap, customer returns, and new product launch problems.
    • Assist with the creation, development, and implementation of company processes and procedures.
    • Ability to lead cross-functional or department meetings as necessary.
    • Lead quality troubleshooting for the manufacturing floor.
    • Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives, and investigations.

    • Consistently support compliance by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and the Company's policies and procedures

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written)
    • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, procedures, drawings, etc.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14000 requirements.
    • Proficient in the use of personal computers, internet and Microsoft Office suite of software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook (or related e-mail system)
    • Proven ability to query and manipulate data using MS Excel, MS Access, Minitab, and/or other programs and transform the data into information
    • Proven ability to write technical documents such as procedures and specifications
    • Proven ability and desire to solve problems utilizing common problem solving methodologies/tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, is/is not tables, pareto charts, control charts, etc.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects
    • Proven ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form
    • Proven ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and as a team leader
    • Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines
    • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
    • Ability to demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and to appropriately prioritize workload based upon organization or department needs
    • Be detail-oriented and have excellent follow-through skills
    • Proven ability to manage people; train and motivate employees, as well as delegate effectively
    • Must be able to function in a deadline driven environment
    • Proven ability to make sound decisions to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation or government law
    • Excellent project management, planning, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively manage several projects at one time while providing high attention to details and excellent follow-through skills
    • Must possess high degree of professionalism and ability to handle confidential information

    Minimum Education and Experience Required:

    • Sample language - Bachelor's degree in Quality or other related technical degree with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in quality or manufacturing engineer and a minimum of three (3) years' experience; with minimum of three (3) years leading problem solving teams in a manufacturing environment; or combination of relevant education and experience.

    Special Job Requirements:

    • Must be available for extended, varied work hours based on business need

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Certified ISO-9001 Internal Auditor
    • Experience with SAP quality module
    • Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, stoop, kneel, bend, twist, reach above shoulder level and below knee level, push, pull, lift, walk, and make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboard
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Combination of general office, machine shop, and warehouse environment (no air-conditioning)
    • May require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
    • Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 20% travel
