Our pluralistic Jewish community day school prepares and inspires Jewish students
through an extraordinary secular and Judaic education to live purposefully, act ethically
and thrive in the world. Since its founding (with the Lower Division, then Herzl, in 1975,
and the Upper Division, then RHMA, in 1979), Denver JDS has aimed to inspire Jewish
youth to think critically about the world in which we live and prepare them for the role
they will play in affecting it through a challenging curriculum, a pluralistic approach to
Judaism, and a warm and caring environment steeped in Jewish values. Denver Jewish
Day School is the Rocky Mountain region’s only K-12 community Jewish day school,
currently with approximately 65 faculty members and 355 students.
Lower Division Teacher Profile:
Denver Jewish Day School employs innovative, creative and knowledgeable teachers.
Our aim is for our teachers to possess outstanding teaching skills, be familiar with best
practice in all content areas they teach, be comfortable employing project based
learning and other student-centered approaches into the classroom and develop
excellent communication skills to use with students, parents and colleagues. We employ
teachers who have experience with a diverse population of learners, differentiated
instruction and future-ready teaching practices. Our teachers are positive school
community members and enjoy working collaboratively with a team and building positive
relationships amongst all constituencies.
The LRC Coordinator works as the leader of the LRC team to to collaborate with each
other and classroom teachers to ensure that educational and social emotional needs
are being met for DJDS students with learning differences. Specialists work with
administrative support to design and implement an LRC program that is based on
research based practices and data driven. Specialists participate ongoing professional
development as offered by the school.
Specialists also participate in various aspects of school life including holiday
celebrations, class trips and assemblies.
Responsibilities:
1. Work collaboratively with the Students Services Team and faculty.
2. Create and maintain Denver JDS Differentiated Learning Plans.
3. Case manage students on caseload.
4. Oversee case management for all LRC students.
5. Assist with training of faculty in working w students with Learning Differences.
6. Work directly with students with Learning Differences.
7. Manage the LRC staff.
8. Communicate w parents to ensure that the LRC needs of students are being followed.
9. Work with faculty to ensure that student’s DLP are being followed.
10. Work with faculty to identify students with Learning Differences.
11. Coordinate with the Administration of the Lower Division to ensure that all DLPs are
being followed properly.
12. Coordinate with the Administration of the Lower Division to review policies concerning
students with Learning Differences.
