Description

The Anson County Public Library is seeking a Library Program Assistant with varied hours including some evenings and weekends to provide excellent public service in a team-oriented library system.

General Description of Duties

Shelving books, performs circulation desk duties including issuing library cards, checking material in and out, and collecting fees. Assist patrons with locating material and using the public access computers. Program work includes planning and presenting outreach to senior homes, youth programs, computer classes, or other services. Assists with the library’s technology programming.
Work requires significant public contact and is performed mostly in an inside environment. The job requires walking and occasionally lifting up to twenty (20) pounds. The ideal candidate understands the value of personal responsibility, mutual respect and teamwork, honesty and integrity, positive communications, punctuality, exemplary attendance, and is motivated to deliver excellence in overall performance. 

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, 1 year of recent full time customer service experience, proficient in basic computer skills, and ability to learn Dewy Decimal system. 1-year previous library experience preferred.
