Position: Eldorado Library Director Salary Schedule: $47,000 - $60,000

Function: Oversee the operation of the library FTE = IMRF, VACATION, SICK DAYS

Specific Responsibilities:

• Hire, direct, and supervise staff
• Advise board on policies for building, and library services
• Establish and evaluate library procedures
• Attend all board meetings and report to the board monthly on the state of the library’s finances, statistics, and planning
• Attend Illinois Heartland Library System/SHARE meetings, conferences, and continuing education as approved by the board
• Prepare all necessary reports to the board, Illinois State Library, etc.
• Approve bills and prepare them for the bookkeeper
• Adhere to budget
• Plan budget with the finance committee
• Ensure timely posting of library information
• Represent the library in community activities
• Supervise and plan programs to stimulate the growth of library services
• Handle correspondence
• Handle complaints, problems, etc.
• Comply with regulations and provisions of the Illinois Library Act
• Evaluate collection weaknesses and strengths
• Seek, apply, and administer grants
• Manage daily library procedures
• Supervise maintenance of the library building and preservation/care of the library property
• Keep informed of new library technology and trends, recommend and update whenever possible
• Plan and direct regular staff meetings
• Arrange for staff training
• Record daily financial records for monthly report
• Deposit monies in appropriate amounts
• Supervise and purchase of all library materials, equipment, and supplies
• Keep the board and public informed of upcoming board trustee elections, due dates, and materials needed
• Manage circulation, interlibrary loans tasks, and assist patrons as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned by the library board

Qualifications:

We are looking for a friendly and open-minded personality to engage with our local patrons while taking on the administrative, financial, and organizational tasks of the library. A bachelor’s degree or higher is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
