Library Services Director supervises, maintains, and enhances policies and procedures for a library. Oversees professional and support staff involved in cataloging, indexing, issuing books/materials, and keeping records of items on loan. Being a Library Services Director selects books and publications for purchase and subscribes to pertinent periodicals as allowed for by the given budget. Requires master's of library and information science from an ALA-accredited school. Additionally, Library Services Director typically reports to top management. The Library Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Library Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Summary
Under immediate supervision of the Mobile Services Manager or Designee, this position supports the Mobile Services Team mission, to deliver the Library to patrons in the community and to increase public access to materials and resources by reducing barriers. Cross-training, back-up support, and the ability to perform all of Mobile Services programs is essential.
Schedule
Tuesday-Thursday: 8 am - 5:30 pm.
Friday: 8 am - 5 pm.
Saturday: 4.5 hours; variable and dependent on events.
*In case of no events, the schedule will flex Monday-Friday.

Work Environment
Work is performed at the Library’s Truman Road Facility throughout the district. Primary workspace is shared with co-workers in a warehouse/garage/office environment, other work will be performed in public and community spaces amongst patrons from a diverse socio-economic community.
