LS&S is seeking a Library Associate 2 to join our professional library network at the Grace Mellman Community Library. As a Library Associate 2, you will play a vital role in supporting library operations and providing excellent service to patrons. You will have the opportunity to work closely with library staff and assist in various tasks, including cataloging and processing materials, maintaining the library collection, and assisting patrons with research and reference inquiries. This role will also involve using the library's online collaboration intranet to connect with peers and participate in professional development opportunities.
Job Title: Library Associate 2
Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Hours Per Week: 20/hrs.
Hourly Rate: $16.00/hr.
Responsibilities
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
- Support the daily operations of the library, including shelving and organizing materials
- Provide assistance to library patrons, answering questions, and helping with research and reference inquiries
- Maintain the library collection, ensuring materials are properly labeled, organized, and accessible
- Assist with library programs and events, including set-up, promotion, and facilitation
- Collaborate with library staff to develop and implement new services and programs
- Stay informed about changes and trends in library services and technologies
Requirements
An individual should possess the knowledge skill and abilities listed and meet the amount of education training and or work experience required.
- HS Diploma or GED
- Previous experience working in a library or similar setting
- Knowledge of library systems and procedures
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to assist and communicate effectively with library patrons of all ages
- Familiarity with cataloging standards and principles
- Proficient in using library databases and online resources for research
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (35) pounds books, papers and other materials
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time to maintain focus on projects, patrons, and staff
