ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: :
1. Assist librarians in designing student learning experiences, selecting appropriate learning materials and in teaching information literacy skills integral to learning in all content areas and College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) programs.
2. Work cooperatively with librarians to develop the mission and articulate the vision for the library program.
3. Responsible for managing the operation of the NEISD Resource Center including serving as the budget manager for funds used to purchase supplies and equipment.
4. Facilitate the purchasing, processing and delivery of materials for campus libraries.
5. Promote a positive organizational climate, clearly communicate expectations, manage conflict, keep staff informed and involved in planning and decision-making.
6. Plan for professional growth of District personnel through meetings, workshops, conferences and required presentations.
7. Interview and evaluate qualified applicants for Library Services, the NEISD Resource Center, and school libraries.
8. Responsible for maintaining and coordinating partnership with San Antonio Public Library which includes coordinating staffing and serving as the budget manager for funds received through the partnership.
9. Prepare and evaluate bids for procurement of instructional materials, supplies, services, automation systems and equipment for the library program.
10. Chair the Instructional Materials and Allotment Team to coordinate the approval of instructional materials through the Instructional Materials Review Approval (IMRA) process.
11. Submit the requisitions and disbursements for all approved instructional materials through the TEA EMAT system.
12. Support the integrated library management system and conduct regularly scheduled audits of library materials and additional instructional materials assigned to the school libraries.
13. Guide campus administrators and library staff through the reconsideration process of library materials.
14. Propose changes to district policies and procedures related to the library program as needed.
15. Inform district personnel of the stipulations and interpretations of the copyright law.
16. Implement the district library program’s collection development policy and propose changes as needed.
17. Maintain confidentiality of information.
18. Report to work on time every day.
19. Perform additional duties and accept other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, database management, library instruction, and information literacy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and detail- oriented
- Ability to prepare and manage a budget
- Demonstrated ability to supervise employees, establish and maintain effective working relationships with executives, campus/department heads, elected officials, district employees, other school districts and government agencies, outside organizations and the public
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with driving record that meets the requirements of the district
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may occasionally drive a personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
