The proposed Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine (MSOM) is a new medical school located in Hagerstown Maryland. MSOM is seeking a full-time director of library services for the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine, and the health system, including the Graduate Medical Education programs.
The director of library services will be the key leader overseeing the medical library and participating in all startup activities to get the brand-new library program started. This includes hiring and supervising the rest of the LIS team consisting of a librarian and contracted services from LIRN. The director ensures that all students, staff, faculty, and medical practitioners have the support they need to make good use of the library. In a well-run program, all of these stakeholders will be able to find the most current, accurate, and evidence-based literature on subjects they are researching.
This librarian is responsible for on campus collaboration with the students, residents and physicians. In addition, this position will be responsible for external communications including coordinating the library’s social media channels, producing newsletters and press releases to internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining the library’s web site and the LIRN library program in conjunction with all staff along with other technologies. Education - Masters Preferred OR combination of degree and relevant experience. ALA-accredited degree in Library/Information Science OR combination of degree and relevant experience.
Experience - 1-3 years library experience preferred. Academic health sciences library experience is a plus.
