Licensed Practical Nurse - Mental Health administers nursing care to patients with varying levels of mental health disorders and developmental disabilities under the supervision of a registered nurse or other medical supervisor. Monitors treatment and administers medication to patients as needed. Being a Licensed Practical Nurse - Mental Health reports changes in patient's condition to supervisor. Requires graduation from approved LPN educational program. Additionally, Licensed Practical Nurse - Mental Health typically requires a high school diploma. Requires a state license to practice. Typically reports to a registered nurse or supervisor. Licensed Practical Nurse - Mental Health's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Essential duties include:
- Provides nursing and supportive care in accordance with Interdisciplinary Plan of Care, under the direction of the RN.
- Communicates with the attending physicians, other hospice team members and other agencies as needed to coordinate optimal care and use of community resources for the patient/family.
- Document all services provided and submit on appropriate forms.
- Demonstrates knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations for hospice benefits.
- Report changes in patient condition and needs to RN
- Great time management skills
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year experience with either LTAC or Surgical unit
- Current Louisiana license
- Must be able to work flexible schedule including 12 hour shifts
- Have dependable transportation, drivers license and car insurance
