Description
Job purpose
Preventing drowning and other injuries from occurring and must ensure the safety of members by minimizing or eliminating hazardous situations or behaviors.
Duties and responsibilities

1. Recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations by activating the Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
2. Actively guard and scan the pool area; refrain from socializing while guarding.
3. Communicate and enforce all CRS and pool policies and rules in a personable manner.
4. Dress and appearance are consistent with RRCC policies wearing a swimsuit, guard shirt, whistle, and tube while on duty.
5. Conduct pool inspections and complete pool chemical logs and report imbalances or concerns to the supervisor.
6. Proper radio protocol and response in a timely manner, including radio communication to the front desk, building managers, and direct supervisors.
7. Record daily participation numbers and complete daily cleaning assignments.
8. Attending and participating in regular in-service training.
9. Provide a welcoming environment for all members.
10. Document any incidents and/or injuries.
11. Maintain a clean and tidy workspace.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
13. Vacuums pool bottom; empties automatic skimmer; skims bus and other debris from the surface to prepare the pool for daily use.
14. Maintains amenities and cleanliness of changing rooms, bathrooms, and showers.
15. Assisting in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members as directed by the Aquatics Director or Pool Lead.
16. Always organizes and monitors pool games; suggests poolside games.
17. Must successfully pass a background check
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma
• Experience: 1 year
• Lifeguard Certificate
Working conditions
Always work outdoors by the pool. Often wear a lifeguard uniform. Being exposed to the sun and hot outside weather. Work physically near others.
Physical requirements
• The employee is expected to meet the physical requirements of the position, which may include a frequent amount of standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, bending, and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Be present in a hot outside environment through most of the shift.
• The lifting requirement of the position may be greater depending on the job to be performed.
