Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Summary
Under the general direction of a Production Manager, the Assembler plans, prepares and assembles sub-assemblies and final assemblies of all crane products, meeting company standards for quality and quantity. May perform Assembler duties in any work center as required.
Essential Functions
Work Environment
Moderate to loud noise levels from power tools and welding equipment. Two-thirds or more of the workday is spent working near mechanical moving parts and one-third in outdoor weather including wet or humid conditions.
Job Requirements
Requires education generally equivalent to the ability to read and write and add and subtract whole numbers, and up to three months experience in assembling. Ability to use small hand and power tools and measuring tools to assemble parts. Requires the ability to operate hoists and the ability to frequently lift and carry tools and parts.
