Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Dexterity. Use fingers or hands to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects. Hold the arm and hand in one position or turn hands while keeping arms steady.
Math skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divided numbers.
Mechanical skills. Make quick, precise adjustments with hand held machines.
Physical stamina. Stand for long periods of time on the assembly concrete floor.
Physical strength. Ability to carry light to medium weight loads of products weighing up to a maximum of 40 lbs.
Technical skills. Ability to learn and accurately follow directions.
