Light Assembler assembles fabricated parts of small or light subassemblies and completes units. Fits, tests, and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications. Being a Light Assembler identifies and sorts units that fail quality standards. May disassemble units to repair or refit parts as necessary. Additionally, Light Assembler operates hand tools, power tools, and other manufacturing assembly line equipment to assemble units. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Light Assembler works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Must be capable of but not limited to: Excellent soldering skills and fine eye/hand coordination when using small hand tools such as soldering iron, wire strippers, crimpers, etc.; Performs mechanical assembly measuring tools; Perform troubleshooting tasks as required; Visually inspects products or parts to ensure that the product meets the quality specifications. Must be able to follow operation steps and engineering drawings in the completion of the assembly tasks.
