Lineman constructs, maintains, and inspects transmission and distribution of electrical or power lines. Ensures that the circuits are effective and safe for customer use. Being a Lineman removes power lines that are damaged. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent in the field or in a related area. Additionally, Lineman may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervise or manager. To be a Lineman typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. May be entry level if some experience in the skill. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.
