Lineman constructs, maintains, and repairs overhead and underground transmission lines. Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     Linemen perform electrical construction work including maintaining poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities and equipment for the distribution of electricity.

    What You'll Do

    • Install, maintain and repair distribution facilities of all types
    • Operate and install cutouts, line switches, recloses and other sectionalizing devices
    • Refuse line and transformer devices, test de-energized lines and equipment and remove grounds
    • Investigate consumer complaints and make repairs to energized electrical distribution lines
    • Other duties as requested by leadership

    What You'll Have

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the electrical services industry required
    • Completion of an accredited apprentice program is preferred
    • CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days
    • Possession of climbing tools preferred
    • Proficiency in climbing and performing top pole rescues
    • Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances
    • Desire to learn and commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first

    Work Environment

    • Work sites are outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions
    • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English
    • Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling
    • Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment
    • Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
