Performs site preparation tasks, including digging holes or trenches, installing anchors, climbing poles, and using equipment like digger derricks, aerial lifts, pulling and tensioning equipment, forklifts, and dump trucks. Being a Lineman installs wire and cable. Follows all safety regulations and procedures. Additionally, Lineman work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires a valid Driver's License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Lineman works under moderate supervision.     RATE OF PAY: starting at $48.00-$52.00/hour

     

    LOCATION: Mead, CO 

     

    WORK HOURS: 7a.m.–3:30p.m., half-hour lunch, Monday-Friday. Overtime as necessary. On-call

     

    POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVE:

    Works under the direct supervision of a Superintendent. Performs numerous duties including construction, maintenance and repair of Overhead & Underground distribution lines and related facilities, service work and other related and assigned duties.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    Frequently constructs underground and overhead distribution lines which includes excavation, conduit installation, Vault installation, UG wire installation and Terminations. Digging pole and anchor holes, framing poles, setting poles and anchors, stringing, sagging, armor rod, down guy, connecting conductor, pad mount gear and related tasks of new construction or on energized and de-energized lines. Climbing

    Must be able to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.  Must have completed a four-year certified apprenticeship program and have experience in line construction and maintenance. A Journeyman Lineman Certificate is required.

    Must have a valid Colorado driver’s license before employment and a class A CDL license.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:

    Must live within a 30-mile radius distance from the assigned office within 90 days from hired.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    ·         Knows, understands and applies all OSHA regulations.

    ·         Ability to accurately read and interpret staking sheets, maps and Spec Book on a daily basis.

    ·         Ability to operate a bucket truck, boom digger, trencher, backhoe and other various equipment as required on the job.

    ·         Must carry valid CPR/first aid certification.

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

    Journeyman Lineman will occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. Carrying up to 50 lbs. is done occasionally when carrying equipment from truck to work site. When doing pole work or moving a transformer, it may be necessary to push and pull approximately 150 lbs.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Journeyman Lineman's work is done outdoors under constant adverse weather conditions. Noise level is frequently 100-120 decibels.
