Litigation Docket Manager oversees the team responsible for tracking the organization's docket files and records. Ensures records and deadlines are properly and timely entered into the calendar. Additionally, Litigation Docket Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Litigation Docket Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Litigation Docket Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     We are currently searching for a Litigation Docket Clerk to support Litigation attorneys in our San Diego, California Office.

    The Litigation Docket Clerk will be responsible for the daily litigation activities in the office, including the filing, service and retrieval of court documents; maintaining and updating all related databases; processing incoming court documents, checking dockets for updates, docketing/calendaring and running reports; and communicating with court personnel and attorneys regarding proper filing procedures.

     

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide support to litigation attorneys, including calculating deadlines, retrieving court documents, and coordinating service of process.
    • Perform electronic court filings for state and federal trial and appellate courts.
    • Screen and review incoming and outgoing court documents and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
    • Review court filings and enter calendar deadlines in centralized docketing software (CompuLaw);
    • Track critical dates and related details and communicate information with attorneys, paralegals and/or staff, as necessary.
    • Search cases using software and internet resources as necessary.
    • Assist with other administrative projects or provide other general back-up support as necessary.

     

    Qualifications:

    • An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings.
    • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with rules-based calendaring software desirable.
    • Experience with federal, state and local court systems, including electronic filing systems.
    • General level of knowledge of court rules and procedures in California state and federal courts.

     

    Experience:

    • Minimum of (2) years of prior experience in litigation docketing desired
    • Familiarity with CompuLaw (or other rules-based calendaring software) preferred.
    • Experience with firmwide calendaring preferred.
