  • WECU is seeking a Business Banking Loan Review Analyst to join our Business Banking team located in Bellingham, WA. The position performs ongoing, objective examination of individual loans/credit relationships, monitors member compliance with financial reporting and loan covenant requirements, prepares standard as well as ad hoc loan review activity reports, and acts as backup for appraisal activity to comply with program requirements. 

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Prepare Annual Review reports detailing loan review findings and recommendations.
    • Utilize expert judgement to review commercial borrower relationships and develop an assessment of loan repayment ability; validating that the risk rating is accurate. 
    • Prepare financial statements spread sheets and complete analysis of financial information to identify current or potential problems in loan and portfolio credit quality.
    • Review loan collateral for loan repayment support and confirm proper lien perfection.
    • Evaluate the adequacy of loan monitoring and accuracy of loan documentation for loans reviewed.
    • Administer construction loans.  Process construction draw requests in accordance with credit union policies, work with borrower, contractor, and loan officer for receipt of draw conditions and requirements, order inspections, order survey, foundation, and date down endorsements.
    • Assist in preparing loan and loan portfolio reports and monitoring levels and trends involving things such as loan covenant compliance, monitored line of credit performance, maturing loans, past dues, concentrations, TDR’s, loan impairment, and documentation and collateral exceptions.
    • In a backup capacity, request appraisal bids, order appraisals, order appraisal reviews, ensure appraisers are completing full scope of the assignment.  Provide appraisers with feedback on quality issues; identify and escalate appraisal concerns.
    • Build and maintain relationships with Loan Officers and Credit Analysts while contributing guidance for areas that require further development.
    • Ensure the confidentiality and security of all business loans.
    • Remain current on changes within the legal, regulatory, economic, competitive and technology environment that may affect business/commercial lending functions.
    • Keep informed about credit union history, philosophy, and changes to organizational policies and procedures by participating in staff and operational meetings.
    • Follow policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations.
    • BSA Specific Requirements: Understand compliance and complete annual training related to the Business Services Loan Review Officer position including, but not limited to, The Bank Secrecy Act and the Patriot Act.  Understand Bank Secrecy Act forms and procedures for monitoring and reporting suspicious activity.  Notify the Compliance Department of any suspicious activities.
    • Perform specific and delegated duties as assigned by management.

    EDUCATION AND SKILLS:

    • Four-year undergraduate degree with a field of study preference in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics or significant relevant experience.
    • Minimum 3 years of commercial underwriting and credit experience.
    • Strong credit skills in commercial underwriting and risk analysis; including financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, collateral evaluation, and loan structuring.
    • Strong working knowledge of various loan types, loan documentation, the Credit Union’s Business Loan Policies and Procedures and working knowledge of the credit union’s products and services.
    • Strong knowledge of construction lending including commitment and loan structures, titles and liens, contracts, project budgets, AIA documents, fundamentals of underwriting, insurance, bonds, letters of credit and state legal requirements.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of state and federal lending and appraisal regulations, as they pertain to business lending.
    • Knowledge of the SBA 504 and 7(a) Loan Programs.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, Financial Tools software, and experience working with credit union/bank core computer systems and loan processing systems.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize work and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
    • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    • Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and tact in dealing with members, management, and staff.
    • Ability to represent the credit union in a positive, professional manner in person, on the telephone, and in written correspondence.

    COMPENSATION: 

    The salary range for this position is from $32.99 to $49.48 per hour.
