Locksmith is responsible for the maintenance, installation, repair, and troubleshooting of locks and keys. Duplicates keys and replaces and re-keys locks as necessary. Being a Locksmith may install or maintain emergency exit systems and electronic access equipment and devices. May design new key or lock systems for an organization. Additionally, Locksmith maintains a thorough records of changes and additions to an organization's key systems. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Locksmith works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The purpose of this position is to perform skilled locksmith work in the repair, alteration, installation and keying of locks on buildings, equipment, lockers and vehicles; resolving immediate operational, security and/or safety concerns. In collaboration with the Security Department, designs and maintains the campus keying system. In collaboration with the One Card office, supports, maintains and repairs card access and proximity access systems. Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program. May occasionally be assigned to responsibilities associated with the Building Maintenance Worker and the Carpenter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Installs locking systems (e.g. doors, door hardware, closures, panic hardware, changes lock combinations, security bolts, equipment, lockers, vehicles, hinges, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, and secure operating condition.

Employees in this position are considered "essential personnel", which requires them to report for duty during weather/other emergencies that may result in College closings or delays. Regular work assignments change to performing snow removal duties such as shoveling, snowblowing, etc.
Pay Range: $19.00-$21.00/hour, depending upon experience
