Great Lakes Veneer has an immediate job opening in our log yard for a skilled machine operator. This position will be part of our Night Shift (4 PM – 2 AM, Monday -Thursday) crew – training will be done on Day Shift.
Duties include safe operation of Liebherr and Timber Pro heavy equipment, checking-in loads, checking, balancing and loading vats, plating and waxing logs, feeding conveyor systems into the mill, and other related duties and responsibilities. Position requirements include 3 years of experience operating forestry, construction, and/or farm equipment and machinery, the desire to work outside year-round with exposure to weather conditions, and the ability to identify logs based on species/size is a plus. Good mechanical aptitude, equipment operation abilities, communication skills, attendance and safe work habits are essential!
Great Lakes Veneer offers a negotiable and competitive starting wage determined based on experience, plus built-in overtime, premium pay on Sunday, and a $1.00/hour shift differential for working the night shift schedule.
