Provides safety assessments and administers Safety/Loss Control projects and programs to assure compliance with state and Federal regulations.

Provide Safety/Loss Control assessments to departments, as required; acts as a technical safety resource for other Departments; documents safety issues and creates reports as required.
Provide safety training and workplace safety information to employees.
Investigates accidents and follows up on investigations; categorizes and records accidents in OSHA and other records systems; reports accidents and incident trends of interest for revised training programs.
Conducts workplace reviews and inspections; identifies and recommends correction of workplace hazards; inspects and updates fire extinguishers.
Reviews and processes claim forms and other related documents.
Maintain confidentiality of records on sensitive claim information.
Monitor and follow-up mandatory annual inspections including fire suppression, fire alarms, cranes, boilers and machinery.
Will be required to travel to the villages within the North Slope Borough.
Confer with and offer advice to NSB managers and employees on safety and health issues; apply expertise in a variety of safety and health fields, including general industry, construction, fire prevention, and related matters to further NSB interests.
Act as a liaison for the NSB with Federal and State governmental agencies with interest to safety and health aspects of NSB operations.
Assess ergonomics of employee work stations as directed; review work processes and recommend changes to reduce workplace discomfort.
Evaluate losses to determine trends and their causes; develop plan to reduce losses attributed to employee injuries.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of Borough policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles of risk management and OSHA records management.
Skill in understanding, interpreting and applying relevant rules and regulations.
Knowledge of Federal, State, and Borough health and safety policies, regulations, laws, and procedures.
Knowledge of basics on the fundamental of industrial hygiene science and its applications.
Skill in utilizing and evaluating electronic research and online systems.
High School G.E.D/ or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
Associate's Degree in Occupational Safety or equivalent.
Three years of occupational safety work experience;
Valid Alaska driver's license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria.
