Position Summary:
This position performs a variety of routine shipping tasks, including picking, packaging, loading and unloading shipments. Production tasks include material handling, assembling and packing product.
Level of Authority:
This position performs routine duties independently in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Work Environment:
Most of the work is performed in a warehouse environment. The employee may regularly work near moving mechanical parts, in an area with moderate noise levels. Steel-toe boots are required. Must be able to work harnessed to lifts to >than 6' above ground.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Pulls order for shipment in accordance with pick pack slip and customer requirements.
- Sorts, counts and labels parts that are being shipped.
- Makes appropriate copies of pps (pick pack slip) and/or put in proper processing tray.
- Answer Radio calls and load customer pick up.
- Loads and unloads truck as needed.
- Pull UPS 1st and pulling counters, wholesale, truck freight and transfers as needed.
- Pulls at least 90% of parcel orders monthly.
- Inspects product for damages and notifies supervisor.
- Operates shrink-wrap machine, cardboard baler and sealer.
- Operates box making machine.
- Operates steel and poly strapping tools when banding parts and pallets.
- Operates hand trucks, pallet jacks and/or different styles of forklifts when pulling from racks and/or loading a variety of trucks.
- Notifies the supervisor of any problem with orders.
- Follows all departmental procedures and policies. Recommends changes to procedures for supervisor approval.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations; keeps work environment clean and free of hazard.
Qualifications and Capabilities:
Technical
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1-3 years materials management experience, preferred.
- Ability to prioritize assigned tasks.
- Must be able to perform basic math calculations, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Physically capable of operating machinery and lift equipment.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment functional capacity test.
Physical
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, bend, stoop, reach and climb ladders. Move up to 600 lbs using a pallet jack.
- Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently (Level 4 Heavy Work).
- Ability to work at heights above 4 feet using a full body harness and self-retracting fall protection.
- Ability to stand and walk around the warehouse to access bins. The ability to listen to and understand information through spoken words and sentences.
- Ability to mount and dismount forklift and powered equipment.
- Ability to use computer workstation, including keyboard and visual display terminal.
- Finger, hand, and wrist dexterity.
- Ability to see detail at close range.
