Wieland is hiring an Industrial manufacturing Machine Operator to join the team! The purpose of the Machine Operator is to set-up and operate a (Cut-to-Length) CTL machine according to customer specifications and production work orders. The Machine Operator is also responsible for regular equipment inspection and the ability to measure dimensions, align parts and produce material according to production instructions.  The Machine Operator is fork truck certified, works under the direct supervision of the Operations Supervisor and performs a variety of moderate to complex tasks and functional activity.

This is a 2nd Shift position. The Shift is Monday - Friday from 2PM - 10:30PM.

This role is located at our manufacturing facility located in Parsippany, NJ. At this location, we provide the metal material that services the roofting and sign industries.

Hourly Rate: $21.60 per hour plus $.50 shift differential

Responsibilities

Machine Operator Job Duties: 

• Select the correct settings on the machine and inspect for imperfections.
• Adjust and set leveler to ensure compliance with production instructions.
• Efficiently thread coil through crop shear, cropping non-conforming material.
• Check and record gauge, width, color, and surface conditions of material.
• Set gauges to ensure appropriate calibration
• Inspect the material as it is running for any possible imperfections
• Secure finished goods and remove from the levelling line.
• Calibrate with manufacturing assistants to ensure material is packed and tagged according to customer specifications.
• Maintain production and quality standards by measuring and verifying before, during and after processing
• Accurately complete production paperwork and documentation
• Remove scrap and keep machine and surrounding area clean.
• Train the Manufacturing Assistant (MA1 and 2) position to perform machine functions as needed.
• Actively participates in pre-shift meetings and safety efforts on the manufacturing floor.
• Operates the machine, fork truck and other equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
• Complies with OSHA and Wieland Safety Program and advises management regarding concerns or needed actions

Physical Requirements:

• This position is one where the incumbent is required to walk around in the warehouse for extended periods of time on a regular basis, and be able to stand, squat and bend to complete their work.

Qualifications

Qualifications for Machine Operator

• Working knowledge of warehouse operations, including machine operation
• Thorough understanding of a Levelling Machine and job expectations
• Time management skills and the ability to prioritize workload
• Attention to detail, ensuring customer satisfaction
• Problem-solver, with a customer service attitude and orientation
• Solid verbal and written communication skills
• High level of integrity and confidentiality

Education & Experience:

• Must have high school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of Press, Levelling, and production machinery in a manufacturing environment
• Minimum two years’ experience of Manufacturing Machines Operations
• Successfully operated as a Machine Helper or Assistant
• Comfortable taking orders from supervisors and management
• Ability to operate within a fast-paced, union environment
• Knowledge of equipment, safety, and process management
• Comfortable using a fork truck and other warehouse equipment
• Willingness to learn new skills and the ability to teach or train others
