Job Description: Fabrication Shop Supervisor

Role Overview:

The Fabrication Shop Supervisor is pivotal in managing the daily operations of our shop specializing in structural components. This role demands a proactive leader who ensures that production is seamless, standards are met, and safety protocols are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision: Lead and direct a team of fabricators, welders, and other staff by assigning tasks, providing guidance, and ensuring efficient and quality completion of work.
• Production Planning: Work closely with project managers and engineers to formulate production schedules, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and adapt schedules to maximize workflow.
• Quality Control: Uphold our commitment to high-quality standards through rigorous quality control processes, perform inspections, and execute corrective measures for any discrepancies.
• Safety Compliance: Enforce safety standards, conduct safety briefings, and ensure adherence to safety regulations to prevent workplace accidents and injuries.
• Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of materials, tools, and equipment, place orders, track usage, and liaise with procurement to ensure adequate supplies.
• Training and Development: Onboard new hires and foster ongoing development of existing staff through training sessions, mentorship, and promoting opportunities for additional qualifications.
• Problem Solving: Address operational challenges with innovative solutions, ensuring projects remain on track.
• Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members, management, and other departments to ensure alignment and clarity.

Required Work Experience:

• Experience in structural fabrication or related fields, with hands-on skills in welding, fabrication techniques, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred, showcasing effective team management, task delegation, and conflict resolution.
• Familiarity with AISC standards, QA/QC procedures, and safety regulations.

Education:

This position is critical for maintaining the operational efficiency and quality of outputs in our fabrication shop, requiring a blend of technical knowledge and leadership acumen.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
