Machinist assembles, repairs, and fabricates parts or components for tools or machines by operating mechanical equipment. Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of the finished product. Being a Machinist selects and operates the appropriate tools to cut, shape, or finish metal, plastic, or composite material. Sets up, services, and maintains equipment to ensure efficient and safe operation. Additionally, Machinist utilizes precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units as necessary. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Machinist works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. - Adhere to all safety regulations in accordance with company policies.
- Capability to comprehend and follow verbal instructions.
Qualifications- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in mathematics and analytical thinking.
- Exceptional manual dexterity, precision, and attention to detail.
- Ability to utilize precision tools like calipers for precise measurements.
- Experience in machine tools or mechanical assembly is advantageous.
- Knowledge of metal properties and other materials.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and practices.
Education and/or Experience- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred apprenticeship or vocational training.
- Experience in operating and programming manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machinery (e.g., lathes, grinders).
