Managed Care Provider Relations Manager develops, manages, and sustains relationship with members of physician network of managed care service providers. Recruits new physicians and manages the credentialing and orientation process. Being a Managed Care Provider Relations Manager serves as a resource for physicians, answering questions and providing information about network procedures or contracts. Monitors provider performance and resolves any issues. Additionally, Managed Care Provider Relations Manager reviews billings and claims payments according to managed care contracts. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Managed Care Provider Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Managed Care Provider Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Urgent Care has more than one locations, New Orleans, Veterans, Gretna, and LaPlace. The Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner candidate will commute to all clinics so residing anywhere between both clinics (i.e Kenner, Metairie, New Orleans) or willingness to commute to all facilities is required. 



    Job Duties:


    • All medically related functions performed by a medical provider are to be performed under the supervision of a properly licensed physician.
    • Responsible for the exceptional treatment and communication of care options to every urgent care patient.
    • Maintains up-to-date working knowledge of the latest changes, updates, and literature relating to medical care.
    • Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of medical charts.
    • After consultation with the AP Program Medical Director, oversees patient issues and concerns which may include but are not limited to patient medical care.
    • Provides and manages direct patient care, including assessments, physical examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment. Works in collaboration with designated Physician(s).
    • Orders diagnostic tests, including but not limited to: x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests, and with direct medical oversight, interprets the test results for deviation from normal.
    • Performs procedures, including but not limited to: I&D, splinting, suturing, managing infection, and wound care.
    • Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in the provision of continuity of care. May be required to supervise ancillary staff.
    • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assess medical conditions and refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care options as appropriate.
    • Communicates with patients regarding test results and appropriate clinical information as care necessitates.
    • Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens.


    Qualifications:


    • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physicians (NCCPA ) or a master's degree (MSN) and certification by one of the Nurse Practitioner certifying bodies (ANCC or AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is required.*
    • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner, 3 years preferred.*
    • Spanish is a PLUS
    • Must be certified in CPR, ACLS, and PALS.
    • Must meet credentialing requirements, including licensure, boards, and current DEA.
    • Must meet state requirements for independent practice.
    • Clinical experience in emergency medicine, urgent care, retail care, primary care, and/or ambulatory care setting is preferred.
    • Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • Pleasant interpersonal demeanor and ability to work with all levels of associates and leadership.
    • Exceptional leadership, mediation abilities, and multi-tasking skills are required.
    • Strong commitment to customer service and excellence in healthcare.
    • Working knowledge of:
      • Emergency, urgent care, and occupational medicine fields.
      • HIPAA, OSHA, HR, and billing/coding requirements.
      • State and federal laws governing medical services.
      • Working with Accreditation Bodies.
      • Required to maintain CME hours as indicated for maintaining individual licensure.
    • Ability to learn computer software programs; enter and maintain accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials. Critical thinking skills are a must.
    • Valid Prescriptive Authority (per State practice requirements); ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients on incorrect usage.
