JOB SUMMARY:
We are searching for an energetic and driven candidate for the position of Wakanyeja Tokeyahci Operations Manager. Wakanyeja Tokeyahci is Lakota immersion elementary school working to serve grades K-3. The Operations Manager is charged with ensuring that all aspects of Strategy & Logistics are high-functioning so that school leaders and teachers can focus exclusively on student achievement and classroom instruction. The Manager will lead in the following areas of operations: managing the operations team (Office Coordinator, Custodian, Outreach Services Coordinator, and Food Services coordinator), enrollment, budget and procurement oversight, facilities, food & nutrition, logistics and scheduling, custodial/office/technology inventory & supply management, human resources, school emergency preparedness and response, and data systems management. The manager will also assist the Head of School in managing and coordinating activities such as special events; transportation and building maintenance; school meals; maintaining the school’s operating budget; and managing grant projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervising Operations Staff
● Directly supervises and conducts evaluations for Office Coordinator, Custodian, Outreach Services Coordinator, and Food Services coordinator
Finance and Purchasing
● Manages school budget, school-based purchasing, and looks for cost-savings
● Manages key grants and funding streams, ensuring adherence to proposed timelines and completion of proposed objectives
● Maintains equipment, textbook, and supply inventories.
● Supports the Head of School in evaluating information to ensure a realistic and balanced budget.
School Operations, Facilities, Logistics
● Manages school calendar and scheduling, special events, field trips, cafeteria, transportation, maintenance, playgrounds, and cleaning.
● Manages community use of school site.
● Monitors student attendance and coordinates efforts to improve student attendance.
● Supports the Head of School to maintain a positive, safe learning environment for students by enforcing the school discipline plan
● Responsible for school public relations and communications plan: promote the school through positive relations with the community, businesses, parents, and students.
● Monitors the building for cleanliness, physical condition, and safety matters
Student Information Systems
● Maintains accurate student records, including attendance and enrollment.
● Ensures there are clear procedures for managing student information, generating reports, and monitoring the distribution of progress reports and report cards.
● Monitors student transcript requests and other records requests.
Human Resources Management
● Ensures everyone has a clear understanding of school-wide policies and procedures (e.g. staff handbook)
Health and Safety
● Collaborates with Head of School to establish emergency response teams, review protocols, and ensure the plan is updated and executed as needed.
● Collaborates with custodial staff to ensure all emergency equipment (e.g., fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, etc.) is in place and operational.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s Degree

● Demonstrates commitment to students; high degree of professionalism; and excellent problem-solving, organizational, communications, collaboration, and interpersonal skills with minimal supervision
● Possess the skills and experience to manage, work with, and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.
● Minimum three years of progressively more responsible experience in the area of operations and logistics, one of which shall have been as a manager
● Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, independently, and proactively; meet deadlines; maintain confidential and important operating records and prepare reports from such records; compose letters and other correspondence in response to inquiries; deal effectively and courteously with the school community; and exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting school policies and procedures
● Comprehensive knowledge of all Microsoft Office suite applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint; intermediate computer skills including a variety of internet-based technologies; and basic financial knowledge and skills are strongly encouraged.
