    Education/Experience Requirements:

    Bachelor’s degree and at least one (1) year related experience, preferably in a residential treatment setting, Associate Degree or 60 credit hours from accredited college or university with three (3) years’ experience with children preferably in a residential treatment setting or High School diploma with at least five (5) years of increasingly responsible childcare experience. Prior experience in providing care and growth-producing environment for children, youth and/or families required. Must be at least 21 years of age.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Must have the temperament to work with and care for youth with special needs.
    • Demonstrates dignity and respect for the residents, their family members, and significant others.
    • Able to perform physical activities
    • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Exercises professionalism in dress, manner, attitude and judgment.
    • Exhibits a good working relationship with fellow staff.
    • Demonstrates basic computer literacy and writing skills.
    • Completes assigned tasks within time frames allotted.
    • Current certification in CPR, First Aid, Safe and Positive Physical Management, and Medication Administration.
    • Valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside and proof of current auto insurance.

    Essential Job Functions:

    Major highlights of the position requirements are noted below. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required. Using thorough knowledge of all current agency standards, policies and procedures:

    • Maintain continuous communication with cottages to ensure that safe and effective supervision of residents occurs at all times.
    • Ensure the safety of all reside

    ents and staff members through the monitoring and direction of staff members in delivering mandated programs and services to residents.

    • Ensure staffing ratios are met at all times.
    • Provide constructive feedback to BHC in a professional manner with the intention of promoting growth and learning.
    • Perform intake duties in the Intake Coordinator’s absence and assist youth with a smooth transition to program/cottage.
    • Work with Recreation Facilitator to implement and support individual and campus activities’ schedules.
    • Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with all youth while maintaining professional boundaries.
    • Pro-actively check in with staff and youth frequently to prevent crisis situations.
    • Maintain a physical presence in the cottage and focus attention on youth deemed most in need of additional support.
    • Resolve crises by de-escalating youth, acting as a mediator between staff and youth, developing safety plans and ensuring staff utilize proper interventions/techniques.
    • Analyze crisis situations to determine the cause of the problem and possible ways to prevent the situation in the future.
    • Ensure critical incident reports are completed in full, prior to the end of shift.
    • Ensure that all necessary parties are notified following any critical incident.
    • Enter HCSIS Reports into the system for all reportable critical incidents that occur between Friday afternoon and Sunday afternoon.
    • Ensure that exterior doors remain locked.
    • Complete routine safety and maintenance checks of all buildings in cooperation with the Facilities Manager.
    • Take personal action to maintain clean, attractive facilities. Direct youth and staff to clean up after themselves and submit facilities requests via CVCA’s email system as needed.
    • Ensure staff member’s knowledge of all emergency resources as well as when and how to utilize.
    • Confirm that all mandated recordings are completed by staff members as required including but not limited to Cottage Logs, Point Sheets, Daily Notes and Critical Incident Reports. Visually inspect each of these documents at least once per shift.
    • Respond to family and significant other complaints without being defensive and provide positive solutions.
    • Cooperate in the implementation of group decisions and supervisor directives
    • Maintain as current a complete knowledge of community resources which are essential to the delivery of service and to the health, safety and welfare of residents and staff members.
    • Remain mobile and visible; shall not remain fixed in any building, location or vehicle which does not serve as a residence.
    • Act as a resource to individual cottages as needed and other demands allow.
    • Maintain a visitor’s log – both to campus and to individual cottages. Keep records and communicate as required, on all unwanted or restricted visitors to campus or individual units.
    • Meet with all new employees and review issues relevant to role and responsibilities.
    • Cooperate with transportation, vehicle distribution and vehicle maintenance systems, and record and communicate as required.
    • Provide transportation for residents as needed.
    • Document incidents, behaviors, staffing concerns and staff assignments on shift report.
    • Work a schedule which ensures direct communication with other administrative staff members and provides opportunity to participate in required meetings and/or training.

    Training Requirements:


    • All new hires are required to participate in on-boarding orientation and site/program specific orientation.
    • Complete 40 hours of training a year including all mandated topics.
    • Maintain current CPR/First Aid certification.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in Safe Crisis Management every six months

    Work Environment and Primary Work Locations:

    • Primary work location is Flourtown Campus, Flourtown, PA
    • Work in both office and cottage environment.
    • Exposure to outdoor environment.

    Physical Considerations:

    • Moderate to heavy physical exertion is required.
    • Ability to maintain composure in crisis situation with youth.
    • Ability to restrain youth in accordance

    with agency and state requirements.

    • Ability to pass CPR/First Aid certification.
    • Ability to pass Safe and Positive training.
