This Accountant role will perform general financial accounting functions and support related to the collection, accuracy, recording & analysis of Marc Fisher Footwear’s financial operations.
This position will report directly to the General Accounting Manager of the company and will based out of our Headquarters in Greenwich, Connecticut with the ability to work hybrid (3 days in office & 2 days WFH).
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the month-end financial closing process through accounting system, including preparing journal entries in the following areas; Domestic & international sales, ECOM Sales/COGS & other as assigned
- Responsible for all fixed asset accounting. Track all capital expenditures, Capex budget variance analysis and update fixed asset schedules monthly/yearly
- Assist with recording in-house AR sales and receipts
- Reconcile financial data from different databases to ensure financial accuracy, communicate with responsible personnel to make necessary adjustments if needed
- Assist to track daily cash receipts for ECOM activity by brand
- Assist to track and reconcile Factor activity and balances
- Consolidate sales, costs and chargeback allowances information for designated brands and calculate their quarterly royalty expenses respectively, prepare royalty statements to the licensors
- Assist accounting team with preparing journal entries and reconciliations needed for monthly close process
- Provide support to external auditors and management and other Special Projects as needed
Backup Responsibilities:
- Assist in bank reconciliations
- Assist in Profit & Loss analysis, identify key drivers of large variances for sales, cost of goods sold and major expenses accounts
- Assist with maintaining general ledger accounts by reconciling accounts receivable detail and control accounts; prepare adjusting entries for amortizations prepaid; analyze accounts payable ledgers
- Upload journal entries to Oracle and create new accounts as needed
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/or Finance
- 3 years in Accounting (CPA a plus)
- Computer skills: Advanced excel and work skills Advanced skills & knowledge of macros and database functions.
- Experience with retail and/or wholesale companies.
- Experience with finance systems (Oracle experience a plus)
- Desired but not require - Retail industry knowledge of factory finance operations, EDI, agent commissions, and sales tax and borrowing factors
- Strong team attitude and ability to multitask
- Ability to communication effectively (both oral and written) on all levels of the organization
