The ideal candidate for this Manufacturing Cost Accountant position will have 2 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. They will provide accounting and financial support to the company by working closely with production and management to ensure accurate cost data. Providing cost analysis results to assist management in decision making and other financial initiatives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of each manufacturing activity and process, influencing the overall financial and operating performance of the business.
- Develop and maintain a cost accounting database for each product within the order processing/inventory system, including Bills of Materials, labor, and overhead costs.
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost and ultimately pricing.
- Analyze other data collected and record results, including but not limited to productivity and efficiency.
- Develop, prepare, and analyze cost reports, including direct labor, variable labor, and fixed overhead reports.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports and operational analysis with recommendations to achieve optimal results.
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Assist in preparing monthly gross margin reports with explanations of manufacturing performance, communicating financial and business performance clearly and with impact.
- Review new products and prepare cost estimates for discussion and assistance in pricing.
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting profitability of products.
- Provide cost and general ledger accounting support during the month end close process, including reporting, journal entries, account analysis and reconciliation as appropriate.
- Provide financial analytical support as appropriate.
Job Type: Full-time; Onsite
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00-4:30 (overtime as required)
Salary: $54,000-$66,500 per yearEducation: Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance. Or equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Experience and Qualifications:- Minimum of 2 years Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment or experience in Industrial Engineering
- Progressive Costing and Financial Analysis experience in a manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of GAAP
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop and implement process improvements.
- Experience with manufacturing-oriented software system
- Experience with financial planning, analysis, and forecasting
- Proficient with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel including V lookups, pivot tables, macros, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ongoing training and development expected.
