Openings on 1st shift (6am to 2:30pm) and 2nd shift (3pm to 11:30pm)
DESCRIPTION: This position leads a team in production that meets the safety, quality and production specifications within a given department. A line leader can perform all tasks within the assigned production area and will rotate or work at them as is necessary. Responsibilities include setting up and assigning team members to work areas. Participation in management decisions affecting work areas is a key to success.
To accomplish this it will require them to:
1. Read and proficiently interpret job card; drawing; blueprint; and other written documents to ensure specifications are understood and met.
2. Operate various handheld tools; portable type machines; or other machinery within the assigned areas in a safe manner.
3. Comprehend business requirements and communicate those expectations to their team members through daily meetings and interaction throughout the shift.
4. Rotate through various work stations within any given department.
5. Create a knowledgeable and skilled team through training, communication, and accountability.
PRIMARY ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities are:
· Effectively delegates and allocates tasks to team members within department. Provides support and direction as needed.
· Abides by and enforces all company policies and procedures in a firm, fair, and consistent manner. Asks for guidance as needed for questions or concerns. Assists team members in resolving issues or complaints by following through with answers or questions they have brought fourth.
· Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggest changes to working conditions and/or equipment use to increase efficiency; improve safety; resolve quality issues; etc.
· Maintains team member related records for training, safety, attendance, corrective actions, etc. and submits information to Human Resources in a timely manner.
· Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance team members.
· Communicates with their team, other Team Leads, Line Leads and Management to coordinate activities of individual departments.
· Actively participates in meetings and supports company initiatives in a positive manner.
· Leads by example including but not limited to following all safety and quality policies, procedures and processes are adhered to, exhibiting the knowledge, skills, and abilities in work operations through training, coaching, and mentoring team members.
· Conducts quality inspections per job card; drawings; blueprints; control plan; work instruction; and procedures.
· Maintains good housekeeping at all times at the respective working area.
· Reviews incoming work orders and assigns work to meet shipping requirements.
· Verify and records non-conforming parts and completes the reporting of production output. Immediately identifies and corrects problems in production to prevent incorrect orders going to customers. Elevates issues that cannot be immediately resolved.
· Ensure operators achieve/perform to daily targets and output.
· Proficiently perform all tasks within their assigned area as required.
· Set up of all machinery within their assigned areas.
· Diffuses conflicts in accordance with company policy and escalates issues immediately.
· Comprehends information on metrics, orders, etc. and effectively communicates the information to all employees through daily meetings.
· Maintains forklift license in good standing to operate a forklift as needed.
· Implements team mentality through establishing and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation with all team members.
· Miscellaneous other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Secondary management responsibilities for employees within the department
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1. High school diploma or GED and 12 months manufacturing experience or the equivalent combination.
2. Basic Math Skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
3. Ability to read a ruler and tape measure in inches and fraction of inches.
4. Basic Reading Comprehension to follow written and verbal work instructions.
5. Manual Dexterity.
6. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
7. Ability to communicate effective, both orally and in writing.
