ABOUT VISIT GALVESTON AND THE PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES
In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING SPECIALIST
As a marketing specialist, you are responsible for planning, creating, and implementing content for various Visit Galveston marketing and communications efforts. Activities will primarily relate to social media content but may include other necessary digital marketing elements. Examples include social media, website, email marketing, blog writing, and other marketing, advertising, public relations, and communications initiatives. When engaging with our social media accounts, you create consumer-focused content, schedule posts across all platforms, and respond to comments and messages we receive from consumers. In addition, you share other engaging content that relates to Galveston, including promotions about special events.
Our ideal candidate is team-oriented and will report to and support the Digital Marketing Manager by assisting with updating tourism-related content and support the Senior Partner Relations Manager in lead generation. Collaborating with marketing leadership, you develop a social media strategy and content posting schedule that helps drive leisure visitation, group sales, and communication across all social platforms. To strengthen our online presence even further, you form outside relationships with other bloggers, industry experts, and influencers.
In addition, you establish and maintain strategic relationships with local tourism businesses and influencers to expand promotional opportunities. Through attendance at national industry events and meetings, you build relationships with industry partners and stay up to date on new trends. At times, you help with the creation of presentations as well as develop monthly reports that measure our digital content performance.
