- Job Summary The EHS Coordinator is responsible for the continued development and implementation of the Company’s safety program including employee training, new hire orientations, incident investigations/documentation/follow-up. They will also partner with operations management to develop and manage ongoing continuous improvement initiatives within the EHS area. Duties and Responsibilities: · Administer the annual “safety training calendar” to provide ongoing employee training/refresher training. Ensure all OSHA required training is completed and appropriately logged. · Partner with operations management to ensure Job Safety Analysis documents are developed/updated for all key activities and employees are properly trained on the JSA’s. · Attend all NMLP sponsored safety initiatives such as monthly safety calls, conferences, etc. Share key information to operations management as needed. · Maintain all OSHA logs for the Company and provide NMLP with the necessary safety reporting. · Assist with new hire onboarding to ensure new employees are properly trained on EHS related procedures. · Develop and maintain an ongoing auditing program for safety and environmental procedures, work rules, housekeeping practices, etc. Continuously report findings and recommended/track improvement steps. · Oversee the investigation of all accidents and near misses, specifically; timeliness, thoroughness, complete analysis and countermeasures/completion. · Stay current with OSHA/Environmental standards/litigation/impact on Company. Communicate updates and best practices to operations management for potential implementation within the Company. · Analyze accidents (company, industry, globally) for trends, etc. Act upon as appropriate. · Coordinate and appropriately involve NMLP representatives with Government inspections, inquiries. · Lead the Company’s COVID-19 pandemic response and partner with NMLP resources to ensure Waukegan Steel is continually implementing best practices. Education and Experience: · Minimum of 5 years of previous safety related work experience supporting strong safety cultures within manufacturing environments. · Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, or Occupational Health; preferred. · CSP Certification or Safety Management education (degree) preferred. · OSHA Certifications are a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Strong verbal/written communication skills. · Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulatory compliance. · Strong interest in the steel fabrication industry – structural and misc metals. · Consistently demonstrate attention to detail, problem solving follow through. · Team player prefers fast paced environment, comfortable multi-tasking. · Analytical & detail oriented. · Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook. · Experience with Microsoft Access and Project a plus.
