Reuther Material originally earned its name from manufacturing block. Today we continue to supply block and have grown substantially to supply nearly the entire building envelope. We've always believed that no job is too big or too small.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Yard Manager reports to the Company President. He/she is responsible for the overall management of the yard ensuring an extremely efficient, safe, and organized yard operation. This position will assure that all orders are fulfilled, and trucks are loaded safely, efficiently and expediently.
Responsibilities
· Maintains an organized, efficient, and logical yard operation.
· Plan daily/weekly manpower needs based upon business demands and closely monitors
overtime hours and dollars.
· Assigns tasks ensuring efficient allocation of labor maximizing productivity, ensuring
orders are fulfilled correctly.
· Assures that all trucks, for customer pickups and delivery, are loaded safely and
efficiently.
· Oversees yard equipment and ensures equipment is safe, operational, and regularly
serviced.
· Motivates, trains, and develops a productive cohesive team.
· Continually trains employees in the safe use and maintenance of tools and equipment.
Empowers employees to take ownership in the use, maintenance and safety of all tools
and equipment.
· Ensures that employees are provided with and consistently use approved safety
equipment.
· Maintains the upkeep and maintenance of company assets (i.e. building property,
equipment, etc.)
· Conducts regular safety meetings and consistently executes all safety policies.
· Conducts monthly safety/yard inspections, documents findings / observations and
executes plans for remediation.
· Oversees inventory quality and ensures accurate quality control. Conducts regular
inventory counts, documents findings, and observations.
· Ensures yard staff is continually trained in product knowledge and organizing the yard operation to function in an organized, productive way.
· Manages the logistics of all material (location, flow of goods, staging areas) to ensure proper storage and avoiding congestion.
· Ensures proper disposal of all damaged/scrap material in accordance with company
policies and procedures.
· Ensure all containers and shelves are accurately marked to ensure proper product
information.
· Manages yard and covered areas ensuring compliance with company cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
· Accurately processes the timely flow of ticket orders.
· Other duties/projects as assigned; including participating in company
committees/teams.
· Flexible to work as needed, including Saturdays.
· Complies with all corporate policies and business practices.
Requirements
Skills:
*Responsible individual with proven experience as forklift operator.
*Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
*Excellent physical condition and coordination (including the ability to reach above your head, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel as necessary).
*Goal-oriented to ensure material and products will always be at the right location to achieve maximum efficiency.
*Valid certification to operate forklifts.
*High school diploma.
*Must be at least 18 years of age.
*Must have valid I-9 credentials (i.e. valid passport, drivers license, state-issued id, social security card, etc..).
*Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather (inclement and otherwise).
