We are looking for a local Automation and Controls Engineer, that will serve as the team's OT and IT skills, focusing on Siemens programming, SCADA systems, Beckhoff, and Codesys platforms. Responsibilities include developing, testing, and documenting safety-critical programs, creating electrical schematics, and supporting design engineers. We seek someone skilled in version control, unit testing, and eager to learn new software.
Here are some key responsibilities in this role:
Development, testing and implementation of PLC programs using the Siemens platform, and preferably also the Beckhoff and Codesys platforms.
Design and maintain SCADA systems/Dashboards to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
Write and execute unit tests to ensure program reliability and safety.
Generate comprehensive documentation detailing programming logic, system configuration, and operational guidelines.
Create (minor) electrical drawings and schematics as required for projects.
Collaborate with design engineers to select appropriate components and assist in electrical cabinet designs.
Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols in all programming and system designs.
Understanding and using version control systems to manage software and documentation.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for installed systems.
Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in PLC programming and automation.
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field or comparable training.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in PLC programming, specifically with Siemens systems. Experience with Beckhoff and Codesys is highly desirable.
Knowledge of SCADA systems and their integration with PLCs.
Experience in writing and implementing unit tests for software reliability.
Ability to program safety-critical systems and develop associated documentation.
Ability to create minor electrical drawings and understand electrical cabinet designs.
Experience with version control systems or willingness to adopt in the future.
Strong documentation skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with design engineers and other team members.
Language skills in German and English and the willingness to write documentation and comments within the program in English
About You
Experience with industrial communication protocols and network configurations.
Knowledge of electrical cabinet design and component selection.
Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and network architecture.
Willingness to travel about 30% and confidence with digital media and intercultural experience.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer science or a related field or comparable training.
Certification in Siemens and/or Beckhoff PLC programming.
