    • Receiving, unloading and processing of incoming shipments.
    • Storing of materials within assigned storage areas according to established policies and procedures.
    • Assisting with inventories to determine overages, shortages or misplaced items.
    • Operating forklifts, hand carts and other manual equipment to load and unload supplies.

    • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
    • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
    • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
    • This position requires the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle and a valid state driver's license is required.
    • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
    • This position requires the incumbent to obtain within 30 days of employment a Class D driver's license for heavy trucks; and other certifications necessary for operation of government vehicles.
    • This position requires the incumbent to work day, evening and night shifts on regular workdays, weekends and holidays.
    • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is, therefore, subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
    • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 70 pounds may be required.
    • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
    Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler ~ without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common Materials Handler duties receiving, unloading and processing of incoming shipments, storing of materials within assigned storage areas according to established policies and procedures, assisting with inventories to determine overages, shortages or misplaced items and operating forklifts, hand carts and other manual equipment to load and unload supplies. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

    • Physical Effort: Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough and uneven surfaces; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching; or similar activities in uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time. Lifts and carries items that weigh up to 70 pounds; however, assistance is required from other warehousemen, laborers, and equipment operators when moving items over 70 pounds. Employee is regularly assigned to activities which involve stocking and retrieving items over shelves and cabinets. Operates forklifts and motor vehicles (occasionally up to 4 ton).
    • Working Conditions: Works inside and outside subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty. or poorly lighted areas. May work on open docks or storage yards. Work may be dirty, dusty, and greasy. The incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, and bruises; falls from ladders; or injury from mechanical conveyor systems or other material handling equipment. The work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts which requires special safety precautions, such as working around moving warehouse equipment, carts or machines. Employees may be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, gowns, safety shoes, goggles, hearing protection, and gloves. Incumbent will be required to work day, evening and night shifts on regular workdays, weekends and holidays. When required, drives throughout the installation and/or off post to civilian hospitals within a 100 mile radius.
