Materials Manager manages the raw material planning processes to ensure an organization operates efficiently. Ensures raw materials are available to meet designated production schedules. Being a Materials Manager utilizes MRP system to manage material planning from purchasing, processing, warehousing, and production. Develops forecasts for raw material needs by considering purchases, production rates, and maintenance schedules. Additionally, Materials Manager coordinates with stakeholders in purchasing and inventory control when adjustments are needed and troubleshoots complex issues as necessary. Maintains supplier relationships and may negotiate lead times. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Materials Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Materials Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Vehicle scheduling and dispatch
- Vehicle inspection and maintenance
- Monitoring, correcting, and improving driving behavior and operations.
- Mentoring and coaching drivers
- Setting drivers schedules
- Tracking driver attendance, health, and other statuses.
- Ensuring drivers adhere to applicable transportation regulations
- Maintaining communication with drivers
- Train drivers on risk management protocols, safety standards etc
- Fleet performance and expenses
- Maintain lists of active vehicles and vehicles in need of repair.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Equivalent related work experience.
- 1-3 years previous experience in related industry preferred
- CDL not required but must be able to acquire in the first six months of working
- Demonstrated decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively under pressure and deadlines
