Mechanical Designer designs and creates layouts and documentation for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical building systems that meet project and technical specifications. Uses computer-aided design (CAD) and other specialized software tools to generate detailed layout plans, schematics, and drawings for mechanical systems. Being a Mechanical Designer maintains accurate and complete change and version control on all design files, documents, and drawings. Incorporates best practices to address design space constraints and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety requirements, and building codes. Additionally, Mechanical Designer collaborates with engineers and other project members. May conduct or participate in site visits to inspect installations or troubleshoot problems. May require an associate degree in mechanical design, drafting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Designer works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Summary
    Under general direction, create models/drawings for custom air handling units, which includes equipment layout inside the air handlers, assisting engineers in the development of Mechanical design drawings including, but not limited to piece part drawings, detailed design drawings for fabrication, assembly and installation; prepare layouts, and detail drawings; coordinate work with engineers.
    Responsibilities
    • Create Manufacturing Level Drawings/Models for Custom air handling units, which includes equipment layout inside the air handlers, assisting engineers in the development of Mechanical design drawings.
    • Provide technical Drawing support to production when needed.
    • Technical liaison with production personnel.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • CAD Operations Certificate or Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related degree
    • Prefer a minimum of 2 years of design drafting experience in a related manufacturing design environment
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor or similar application preferred
    • Knowledge of drafting standards and specifications
    • Manufacturing process experience preferred but not required
    • Desire to continuously seek improvement in existing process.
    • Creative and energetic personality willing to assume multi-dimensional role in a fast paced custom manufacturing business.
    • Good personal and end-user computing skills.
    • Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Must be autonomous (self-starter) and have good problem-solving skills.

    Base Salary is $40,000-$58,000.
