Utilizes technical instruments to develop specifications for new parts, modifications, or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineer identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements. Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues or failures to identify root causes and develop solutions. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Engineer II - Plumbing is responsible for the design of water pump and plumbing systems (water, and some hydraulics). Plumbing design is done in Solidworks and includes pump selection, understanding flow capability, proper selection of components, and innovative problem solving for custom design applications. Additional skill areas include creative design, cross-functional teamwork, working with suppliers and manufacturing. Emergency vehicle design experience and strong working knowledge of engines, chassis, pumps and other mechanical systems is a strongly desired.
