Mechanical Engineer designs, analyzes, and maintains mechanical components and systems to meet specified requirements and standards. Utilizes technical instruments to develop specifications for new parts, modifications, or prototypes. Being a Mechanical Engineer identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. Utilizes CAD software and other design and modeling tools to plan, develop, and improve mechanical parts or components and communicate conceptual designs and specifications to stakeholders. Additionally, Mechanical Engineer conducts prototype testing to evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of mechanical systems and collects and analyzes data for improvements. Analyzes and troubleshoots mechanical issues or failures to identify root causes and develop solutions. Requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Mechanical Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Mechanical Engineer typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.     The Mechanical Engineer’s responsibilities include, but not limited to:
    • Provide oversight and/or support of engineering reviews.
    • Ensure the Basis of Design is complete and comprehensive.
    • Engage with the individual project teams to ensure system selection and designs meet standards and are aligned with operational goals and capacity.
    • Participate in the selection of engineering firms for projects.
    • Provides feedback at each design checkpoint and for relevant submissions.
    • Perform commissioning and project turnover support tasks as required.
    • Compile significant lessons learned to inform development of design standards and operational protocols.
    Desired experience:
    • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience as a design Mechanical Engineer 
    • Experience with laboratory design or equivalent technical complexity.
    • Must be certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and LEED AP accredited professional OR Professional Engineer (PE) 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Capacity to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
    • Ability to successfully pass a thorough criminal background check
